Thank You For a Wonderful Year of Blogging About Home

I can't believe it but I've been blogging for just over a year.

Time really does fly doesn't it.

I love sitting here and going back and reading about our time together over the last year.

It's like I take whatever day I'm reading about out and live it over again.

I love to think about how alike we are, about how your family is like my family, your thoughts are like my thoughts, your home like my home.

That's why we connect, that's why we laugh  together and cry together.

We're all pretty much alike under it all, we have victories and failures.

We have days we don't like our spouses and days we think they hung the moon.

Days we think we've been good parents and days we wonder what in the world we could have been thinking while we were raising them.

Sometimes we adore our in laws and sometimes we want to move away.

Thankfully if we're honest with ourselves, don't think to highly of ourselves and keep the right focus we find our life blog or story has much more happiness and thankfulness than grumpiness and ingratitude.

I'm not an expert at anything, I don't have a food blog or housekeeping blog or decorating blog or money blog, I just blog about home.

Not because my home is perfect, it gets ugly here sometimes just like it does at everyone's place at times but because I want to promote the feeling of home. Not just my home but your home.

I want us to grab hold of the treasure of home and never let go.

Home is not something we have to go in search of, it's right around us, it's something we have to come back to.

It's my prayer that over this last year your heart has been drawn even closer to your home and family than it was before.

Won't you help me to promote the love of our homes?

The best way to do that is by loving our homes and families.

The world needs strong homes more than it needs anything and isn't it wonderful that's something we can give it.

I have had a great year with all of you and I think of you more than you can ever know.

    I know I've enjoyed reading your blog, Kelly! I particularly like how you focus on the little things...the things that sometimes seem ordinary and mundane, but make up the fabric of our lives.
    The world does need more strong homes. Thanks for taking the time to encourage others in promoting the love of home and family.

Raisin Pie....AN OLD FASHIONED FAVORITE

Some of you requested the Raisin Pie recipe so here it is. I had never had a raisin pie until I married into the Gray family. Mark loved them and when I was given a bridal shower before we married, everyone was asked to bring a recipe. Marilyn Losson brought this one. I have to admit as a young wife I let it sit in the recipe box for a little while but once I took it out, it just kept coming back out. Mark's grandpa Gray loved a raisin pie and so we took this over to his house often and of course we took a half gallon vanilla ice cream along with us. When Lucas came in the other day and saw this on the counter he said the first thing he thought of was Grandpa Herman. The girls aren't crazy about this pie but Lucas likes it and he likes it with ice cream too, so I'm thinking it's a Gray man thing. Okay, so here we go, the recipe is..... 2 cups seedless raisins 2 cups water 1/2 cup brown sugar 2 Tbsp cornstarch 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/8 tsp. salt 1 Tbs

SANDWICH RING....IT COULD NOT BE EASIER!

The Sandwich Ring got a big response. Several of you asked about how to make it so I'm gonna to tell you. It's so not hard. It looks impressive but it's for the beginner cook. Here's what you need. 2 tubes (11 ounces each) refrigerated crusty French bread dough Bottle Italian dressing 1/2 pound sliced deli ham 1/4 pound Swiss cheese, halved 1/2 pound sliced deli Roast Beef 1/4 pound colby cheese, halved 1/2 pound sliced deli turkey 2 cups shredded lettuce 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced 1 green pepper, thinly sliced 1 medium tomato, thinly sliced sliced black olives sliced jalapeno peppers Take the two loaves of dough and put them seam side down on a greased pizza pan, forming a large ring and pinch the ends to seal it. Then take a sharp knife and make eight fairly deep slices across the top of the bread. Brush the top of the bread with Italian salad dressing. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. CABBAGE STEAKS

I shared this picture on fb and was asked for the recipe so I decided to just put it in a blog I first got this recipe from Shotgun Red. He has a YouTube channel with lots of good recipes and this is one I decided to try. Since Mark and I are cutting back on carbs and sugars this makes a great side. Here's what you are gonna need. 1 large head of cabbage 1 stick butter 2 tsp. Minced garlic 1tsp. Black pepper 1 tsp. Smoked paprika 1 tbsp. Olive oil Parmesan cheese Line a baking sheet with foil. Turn oven to 375 Remove outer leaves from cabbage Slice cabbage into at least one inch thick slices. Put them on the baking sheet in a single layer. Melt butter and all other ingredients except the cheese. Whisk well. Brush mixture all over the cabbage steaks covering well. Use all of the mixture. Bake in the oven for forty minutes. Remove from the oven and top with cheese. Return the cabbage steaks to the oven until cheese melts and is golden. I b
