ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING

For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.

Wow.

Did you read that.

The way you think is the way you are.

It's not only the Bible that knows that.

Countless, psychologists,  counselors, therapists and so many others know this.

You know this.

Attitude is everything.

The Bible gives us countless instructions about how to think and what to think about.

The problem is we don't do it.

It's like going to weight watchers and never doing the program.

The program works but it won't work if you don't do it.

I've been reading a book about self pity.

We all know it's a waste of time and we all don't like to be around someone who is always telling you how bad they are treated or how unfair life is.

No one ever admires that about anyone.

The first thing to do is to examine ourselves, God said, a man ought to examine himself, and as always, he was right.

We all know if we don't get real with ourselves we won't be able to see who we really are.

We will keep being the victim.

We will keep blaming everyone else.

So to get started we have to ask ourselves some questions.

Do you think your problems are worse than the ones other people have?

Do you find yourself in more conflict with people than most people do?

Do you alway think it's the other person?

Do you think of people as being for you or against you?

Do you find yourself complaining about how others treat you?

Are you jealous of others even though you haven't done what they have done to get what they got?

We have to be willing to read a list like this and get real.

We have to say well, yes, I do blame others, or yes I do always think someone is against me.

Then once we call it out we can start addressing it.

Start where the Bible starts.

Tell yourself to see  life change you have to have a mind change.

Start taking every thought captive and making it obedient to change.

When you start to feel sorry for yourself and want to tell someone how bad you were treated or how bad you have it, stop.

Period.

Just stop.

Decide to stop and think a different thought.

Find something positive and say it outloud.

When you feel depressed and sad and misunderstood instead of sitting down and brooding or throwing a fit do something positive.

Decide to change the way you are thinking.

Go outside and walk real fast.

Talk to yourself, express how you feel then pretend you are walking with someone else.

Pretend they are telling you all the things you just said.

You see sometimes it's easier to see things more clearly when they are happening to someone else.

If you can as I say, remove yourself from yourself long enough to hear how you really sound you might be able to get a hold of yourself and see that what you are feeling or thinking is really not reality.

If you think everyone is against you think of times they have been for you.

Are they really against you or are you just getting upset and exaggerating?

Take control of your thoughts.

Behave the way you would want to behave.

Decide to handle things like a person you admire handles them.

Stay active.

Stay busy helping others.

Put a piece of paper on the fridge door and as you go through the day write down something great about that day.

Everytime you see it you will see that everything isn't bad, there is a lot of good.

You will also become an encourager to your family as you do this because they will see your list and might even add to it.

The thing is you have to do these things.

Self help books are useless the Bible is even useless if we don't pick it up and put it into practice.

The time is now.

Start thinking about what and how you think.

Be honest about  how it affects your life and your family.

When a self pity thought comes, stop it in its
tracks and replace it with something good.

There is a wonderful life and world out there but if we have the wrong attitude we will miss it all
