Christmas Gifts, Its A Wrap

While I know there are some of you out there who really do love to wrap gifts, I also know gift wrapping is one of the most complained about parts of Christmas.

When we were children our gifts from Santa were never wrapped, we just came into the living room to see them all under the tree.

Mark's family wrapped all of theirs so we followed the Gray suit and wrapped our children's.

Every year each child had their own roll of gift wrap and all their gifts were wrapped in it. This did a way with the need for name tags and was fun for them and easy for me.

Since gift wrapping seems a headache for so many how about a couple gift wrap Advil's to take the edge off.

Maybe these ideas will help.

1. Host a gift wrapping party with your closest friends or family. After all, you know what they say, "Misery loves company."

2. Use the simple gift bag approach. Remember to remove the name tag from last year.

3. How about a gift wrap ministry at your church or work?  Wrapping is difficult for the elderly and time consuming for busy young parents. You could sit up outside a store sort of bake sale style only it would be gift wrapping. You could do it for free or use it as a fund raiser. Either way you will be a blessing I'm sure.

4.  Scan pictures of the people you are giving gifts to and put them on the gifts in place of nametags. This makes it possible for even the little ones to help hand out the gifts. No reading required.

Which brings me to my question. How does your family go about handing out the gifts?  Is it a free for all or is there a strict order?

Share your gift traditions with us, who knows you may just plant the seed for a new tradition in another family.

  1. Santa gifts are never wrapped at our house. We do gift tags on the other gifts and we take turns opening gifts! Lindsay

  2. Sounds good Lindsay. You have pretty packages and yet some things aren't wrapped leaving you with more free time to enjoy the things of the season. I like it!

  3. Normally we wrap everything and one of us will pass out the gifts then after we have them all passed out we will start to open. But I do not mess with bows...lol I did when we first got married.

    1. Bows can be a problem Amanda, they get smashed or fall off. I always have to tape mine even if they are the sticky kind.
